What You Will Learn

This 15-week program combines classroom instruction, hands-on skills training, simulation, and real-world EMS experience.

Students will receive training in areas including:

•  Patient assessment
•  Medical and trauma emergencies
•  Airway and respiratory emergencies
•  CPR and basic life support
•  Ambulance operations and patient movement
•  EMS communication and documentation
•  Clinical decision-making and teamwork

Students will also complete field experience with VMSC EMS crews and receive preparation for the National Registry EMT certification examination.

Course Requirements

Minimum age: Students must meet Pennsylvania Department of Health age requirements for certification testing.
Clearances: Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History and Child Abuse clearances completed within one year of registration.
Attendance: This is a hands-on certification program and full participation is required. Students should review the course schedule carefully before registering.
Technology: Reliable computer and internet access are required for course assignments and online learning components.
