george searight imageGeorge Н. Searight, MSW, is а Social Worker with 40 years experience in counseling, training, and teaching in both the medical social service and public health fields, including the inpatient and outpatient medical setting, in the community and in the patient’s home.

Mr. Searight is а graduate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, with а Bachelor Degree in Social Work. He completed а Master of Social Work Degree at the University of Pittsburgh where he also earned а Certificate in Gerontology. He has pursued additional graduate education in Public Health through Temple University.

In addition, Mr. Searight has been active with many community organizations and has taught at the undergraduate college level for over twenty-five years.

Mr. Searight, himself, has experienced being both an informal and formal caregiver for many years. This year he is offering two tracks on Caregiving: The Informal Caregiver and Medical Office Staff.

This session reviews the physical and emotional elements associated with the dying process. ASSESSING THE POTENTIAL FOR WORKPLACE VIOLENCE – “It Can Happen Anywhere”

Stories of workplace violence in the health care setting, have become too common. The occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) estimates that workplace violence victims, in general, number some two million per year. This session will begin to examine and identify formal and informal strategies for assessing the possibility that a patient or an employee may become violent.
