How is this Program Structured?
The program is structured for flexibility for working professionals.
• Format: Four non-credit bearing hybrid courses offered over 7/6-week terms.
• Instructional Time: Each course totals 42 hours of instruction.
• Delivery: 8 synchronous hours via Zoom and 34 hours via asynchronous online coursework utilizing Canvas LMS.
Week One: 1 hour Zoom on a weeknight 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Week Two: 3 hour Zoom on Saturday 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Week Five: 3 hour Zoom on Saturday 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Week Seven: 1 hour Zoom on a weeknight 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Learners will be able to apply coping strategies to effectively manage stress and mental health challenges, and use self-awareness insights to improve decision-making and confidence.
Holistic Well-Being: Strategies for Personal and Professional Fulfillment
Core Focus Areas:
Encompasses physical, mental, emotional, and social health. Provides manageable solutions to nourish mind, body, and spirit.
Skills Acquired (Learning Outcomes):
Learners will be able to implement effective strategies to improve mental, physical, emotional, and social health, and design a customized well-being plan for sustainable professional growth.
Relational Intelligence in Practice
Core Focus Areas:
Building positive relationships through trust, respect, rapport, empathy, and compassion. Focuses on effective communication, empathic listening, managing conflict, and navigating crucial conversations.
Skills Acquired (Learning Outcomes):
Learners will be able to demonstrate effective communication and empathic listening skills. They will apply conflict resolution techniques and use perspective-taking strategies to enhance teamwork and collaboration.
Fostering Belonging: Building Inclusive, Accountable Communities
Core Focus Areas:
Combines principles of belonging and inclusivity with strategies for cultivating workplace excellence. Explores various dimensions of diversity (race, gender, age, disability, etc.).

Learners will be able to explain key belonging concepts and their importance in workplace culture. They will implement practical strategies to foster inclusivity and accountability within teams and organizations.

Thom Stecher
Nationally recognized motivational speaker and educational consultant. He originated the LifeSkills Conference program and founded Thom Stecher & Associates. He has worked with schools in over 20 states, Canada, Germany, and Great Britain. Thom established the first Masters degree in Social Emotional Learning (SEL) with Neumann University in 2011, which now has over 200 graduates.
Abby Morgan
Program Director of Thom Stecher and Associates and Program Director and Advisor of the Master’s degree in SEL at Neumann University. She holds a degree in Human Development and Family Relations from the University of Connecticut. She is an Awareness to Action Enneagram Professional and lead of operations for Thom Stecher and Associates.
Katie McLaughlin de Vries
Educational consultant specializing in Social Emotional Learning (SEL) implementation with Thom Stecher and Associates. She began her career as a dedicated classroom teacher. She is involved in the Student Voice Day Program and guides professionals in implementing effective SEL practices. Katie holds an MS in Social Emotional Learning from Neumann University.
Scott Heydt
Founder and President of RefinED Character, an educational consulting company focused on social emotional learning for K-12, collegiate, and non-profit environments. He earned an MA in Leadership & Liberal Studies from Duquesne University.
