As part of the admission process, you must take the English Composition and Mathematics placement assessments before you can register for appropriate classes. The purpose of the placement test is to correctly place you into the proper courses. The College does not want to enroll you in a course that is too difficult or too easy. So, the placements allow us to determine your current level in these areas. This information will be used after admission in advising you on course selection for the upcoming semester. Some students may be exempt from certain one or all sections of the placement assessment. You can view the exemption policies in the link below. Your Admissions Counselor will notify you if you qualify for exemption from a section.

The English Composition and Mathematics placement assessments are offered at Manor College and the available dates are listed on the Placement Test Schedule. Please review the schedule linked below to determine a test date to register to take the placement tests.

All English Composition and Mathematics placement assessments are administered in the assigned testing location as listed on the enclosed Placement Test Schedule on your selected assessment date. Unless you are contacted by the Placement Test Site Manager with different instructions, please arrive at the testing site, on the appropriate date, fifteen (15) minutes prior to the start time of the test session.

Here’s what you should bring with you:

  • Photo Identification (government issued or an official high school photo ID)
  • Two pencils and scrap paper
  • Do not bring a calculator. An on-screen calculator is provided when appropriate.

You will receive the results of you placement assessments when you meet with your Academic Advisor to register for classes. All placement testing must be completed prior to academic advising and the selection of classes. The time needed to complete the test varies with each individual. Please allow a minimum of three (3) hours to complete all tests. Subtests include Elementary Algebra, Arithmetic, and Writing.

Test session size is limited, please call or email immediately to register early for your preferred test date!

Please direct any questions to your Admissions Counselor.
