MEET A DONOR

Dr. Dave Puerto and Ed Michener

Dr. Dave Puerto has been supporting Manor College for years with a sustaining, monthly gift. He is a former member of our Board of Trustees and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. One of his patients is Anna, a beautiful dog whose best friend is Mr. Ed Michener. “She was very ill, but she was a fighter,” Dr. Puerto said. Anna pulled through a difficult surgery, and Ed asked if there was a nonprofit that Dr. Puerto felt was a worthwhile cause. “And I wanted to do more than just one gift,” Ed said. “I wanted to give a legacy gift, and it was easier for me to set up the ongoing, monthly gift knowing the college is helping students become caregivers.”

Whether with animals, as with the Veterinary Technology program, or people, with nursing, dental hygiene, early childhood education, and many other programs, monthly donors help sustain Manor College in so many positive ways. “It’s worth making the donation, because I know the money is put to good use,” Ed says. “At Manor College,” Dr. Puerto says, “any gift no matter what the size makes a difference. It gives an entire generation of students the opportunity to pursue their dreams.”
