Manor College Professor Pens Chapter in New Higher Education Book
This is the fifth time Dr. Cherie Crosby-Weeks has been published.

Manor College Professor Cherie Crosby-Weeks was recently published in a new book, marking the fifth time she’s authored a book or a chapter.
The book, titled “Navigating Black Joy for Black Women Leaders in Higher Education: Spaces for Authentic Freedom,” was published in September 2026 and is edited by Dr. Ursula Thomas.
“The book is rooted in uplifting Black Women in higher education,” Dr. Crosby-Weeks said. “Each chapter describes how we maintain our joy in our work while facing the challenges Black women have historically faced in higher education.”
The journey to publishing the book began about a year ago, with Dr. Thomas spearheading finding a publisher. “Navigating Black Joy for Black Women Leaders in Higher Education” marks the second time Drs. Crosby-Weeks and Thomas have collaborated. Dr. Thomas was instrumental in Dr. Crosby-Weeks writing her first book chapter in “Cases on Strategic Partnerships for Resilient Communities and Schools” in 2020.
“Dr. Thomas has been a mentor for me for nearly 10 years and I suspect she will keep me busy with writing and scholarship throughout the remainder of my career,” Dr. Crosby-Weeks said.
Dr. Crosby-Weeks is the Chair of the Behavioral Sciences and Education Cluster at Manor College and the Program Director of the Early Childhood, Child Development and Child Care Administration programs. She was named Manor College Educator of the Year in 2025.
