Dr. Cherie Crosby will be engaging this month to support both Higher Education as well as the Early Childhood Education community. She is an official reviewer for the Terri Lynne Lokoff Teacher Award applications.

In 1987, Kay and Fred Lokoff formed the award to honor the memory of their daughter Terri, a passionate child care teacher who knew the incredible value of Early Childhood Education and was committed to making a difference by giving children a strong start in their lives.

Dr. Crosby sits on the board of First Up, and as a member of the ECE community.

“I felt it was very important to support this award this year as I have worked personally with many recipients of the past as well as proudly taught a former graduate who was a previous recipient,” she said. “Sadly, I learned that there was a very limited number of BIPOC readers this year, and I am glad that several of my BIPOC colleagues in the field have joined on to increase equity in this area.”

In addition to this honor, Dr. Crosby is also for the second time reviewing NACADA Conference applications as well. NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising is the world leader in the advancement of student success through excellence in academic advising in higher education.

This is definitely one that I would encourage others to volunteer their time in the future as well,” she says.
