Jennifer Buechel Named 2024 Manor College Educator of the Year

Buechel, of Feasterville-Trevose who serves as the Program Director of Psychology and Human Services, has been at Manor College since 2017.

Manor College named Professor Jennifer Buechel the Educator of the Year. Buechel received the award as part of Manor College’s Founders Day on January 25.

The Educator of the Year is given to a professor whose dedication and commitment goes beyond the classroom. This student-nominated award honors the selected faculty member who received the most votes.

“Professor Buechel is a truly extraordinary teacher,” Tamara Ellerbe, a student at Manor College, said. “She always goes out of her way to support her students and is deeply committed to their success. Her classes are always interesting and she has a real talent for making the material come alive. Above all, she has a genuine passion for teaching psychology, which shines through in everything she does.”

Buechel, the Program Director of Psychology and Human Services, first came to Manor College as an adjunct faculty member in 2017. She began her current role at Manor College in 2021.

“It’s awesome, I can’t even begin to describe it,” Buechel said. “Teaching students is an honor because at this stage, it’s a time that is so formative. You never know what thing that you say that makes a difference in their career paths.This is my dream job and I love the people I get to interact with.”

Buechel began teaching after a career as a mental health therapist. Her passion from teaching stems from seeing how psychology and education pair well together.

“With teaching, I get a chance to help these students – therapy without the therapy,” Buechel said. “I get to help them be the best people they can be. Sometimes, we don’t realize the positive impact that we can have.”

Buechel believes one of Manor’s most positive features is the tight-knit community.

“I’ve felt lucky to be here from the moment I got hired,” Buechel said. “There’s a family aspect to Manor where I can walk into and out of my classes and have the students come up to say hello. You really get to know the students here. I love my job, the people and the atmosphere at Manor.”
