How do personal convictions shape public policy in an era of deep division? Does faith serve as a wall that separates us, or a bridge that brings us together for the common good?

The Different Views, Shared Nation series invites you to a candid conversation exploring the intersection of spirituality, ethics, and governance. This session, “Faith in Politics: From Personal Belief to Public Progress,” features two prominent Pennsylvania leaders who serve neighboring districts but often approach the legislative process from different ideological shores.

Together, they will discuss how their internal values drive their external work, and how they navigate the delicate balance of representing a diverse constituency while staying true to their personal foundations.

Featured Speakers:

Representative Martina White (R-170): A financial advisor by trade and the first Republican elected in Philadelphia in over two decades, Rep. White serves as the House Republican Caucus Chairwoman. Her work is defined by a commitment to fiscal discipline, public safety, and educational choice, often viewed through a lens of conservative values and community stability.

Representative Jared G. Solomon (D-202): An attorney and Army Reserve JAG officer, Rep. Solomon is a leading voice for government reform and neighborhood revitalization. Raised in a family with deep roots in the Jewish faith, his approach to legislating is often informed by the concept of Tikkun Olam (repairing the world), focusing on social justice, veterans’ affairs, and transparent governance.

The Conversation:

Despite their different party platforms, Rep. White and Rep. Solomon have a proven track record of bipartisan cooperation—from stabilizing Philadelphia’s financial oversight to accelerating property tax relief for seniors. Join us as we go behind the headlines to discuss:

  • The moral “compass” that guides decision-making in Harrisburg.
  • The challenge of maintaining personal integrity in a hyper-partisan environment.
  • Concrete examples of how “different views” have led to shared progress for the people of Pennsylvania.
