Matthew Davis Named Manor College’s First Flag Football Coach

“I want our athletes to be a part of something bigger than themselves,” Davis said.

JENKINTOWN – Matthew Davis (Ridley High School, Ridley Township, Pa.) has been named Manor College’s first women’s flag football head coach.

“Becoming the head coach for flag football is an opportunity for me to give back to the sport that’s given me so much,” Davis said. “There’s nothing more rewarding than watching players grow and succeed on the field.”

John Dempster, Manor College’s Athletic Director, added, “Matt and I hit it off immediately. I felt like I knew him for years. He has a lot of football experience and is eager to display his knowledge of the game. With the explosion of women’s flag football in our area, Matt will recruit and build the program from the ground up.”

Davis played football for four years at Ridley High School. He started his senior year at quarterback for the team and led the Raiders to a 7-5 record. Davis continued his athletic career currently playing for Hibernian Rugby Club in Levittown.

Today, Davis is the Office Manager and Data Coordinator for Manor College’s Admissions team.

“From the moment I interviewed, I could tell this was a place I wanted to work at and be a part of,” Davis said. “The culture that has been built here at Manor is one where you are made to feel like You Belong Here from the moment you step foot on campus. I knew I wanted to be a part of that culture.”

Manor College’s Women’s Flag Football program will kick off in the Spring 2026 semester. Davis is particularly inspired to empower women through sports.

“There’s something powerful about creating space for women to lead, compete, and grow with confidence and I’m proud to be part of that movement,” Davis said. “I want our athletes to be a part of something bigger than themselves, work toward a shared goal and support each other through every challenge and success.”

Davis believes a successful program is built both on and off the field, where his desire is to emphasize the student in student-athlete.

“I want recruits to know that I’m fully committed to building a successful program, but success for me also goes beyond the football field,” Davis said. “I’m here to help young people grow not just as players, but as individuals, in the classroom and in life. My goal is to create an environment where athletes can thrive academically, compete at a high level and leave prepared for whatever comes next in their lives.”

Prospective athletes can email Coach Davis directly at MaDavis@manor.edu or email athletics@manor.edu or fill out an Athletics Interest Form. They can additionally reach the institution at (215) 885-2360 x1212.
