Manor College Workshop Student Named To Realtor Magazine’s 30 Under 30
Rachael Shroyer was named to Realtor Magazine’s 30 Under 30 List on April 15.
Rachael Shroyer, who attended several Manor College Real Estate Broker Pre-Licensing classes, was named to Realtor Magazine’s 30 Under 30 list.
“I was really excited to find out I was a finalist,” Shroyer said. “I found out in an email the day we brought our newborn daughter home from the hospital. I was just kind of shocked. There was a lot going on that day!”
In total, fifty finalists were in the running for 30 spots on the list. She was the only finalist named in Pennsylvania. This year, approximately 300 young real estate practitioners applied for a spot in the 30 Under 30, according to the magazine.
Shroyer first discovered real estate while attending the University of Pittsburgh. Several friends were starting a real estate club and, as a marketing major, she offered to help get the club up and running. Over time, she just became drawn to the business after listening to outside speakers.
“It’s such a big time in peoples’ lives buying or selling a home, so I enjoy being involved with that,” Shroyer said.
Shroyer began taking Broker classes at Manor College last year. Living in Somerset County, Pa., about four hours west of Philadelphia, Shroyer had difficulty finding Broker classes near her home. Instead, she found Manor’s fully online program. Some weeks Shroyer’s work involves hundreds of miles of driving, so the flexibility of the online program became a huge advantage.
“Doing my work for the course, it was all over the place,” Shroyer said. “I appreciated the flexibility. Because of my job in real estate, I had some weeks where I could do several hours of work, and others where I couldn’t get any done.”
What she appreciated most was the hands-on nature of the program’s professor, Dr. Ayisha Sereni.
“It went beyond learning what I found in those classes,” Shroyer said. “Dr. Sereni was great and gave me a lot of advice for passing the exam.”
