Manor College Public Safety Director Joseph McCourt Named to Lafayette College’s Athletics Hall of Fame
McCourt was a standout running back for Lafayette College in Easton.
Manor College Director of Public Safety Joseph McCourt has been named to the Maroon Club Hall of Fame at Lafayette College in Easton, the institution announced last week.
McCourt graduated from Lafayette in 2005, becoming a dynamic running back with several school records.
“To be inducted into Lafayette’s Hall of Fame is pretty cool,” McCourt said. “I didn’t think much of my accomplishments as I was playing, but now 20 years removed from those playing days, it’s been fun with this Hall of Fame induction to revisit those memories and talk with old teammates and coaches.”
McCourt grew up in Fox Chase and attended Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia. The Philadelphia Inquirer named him Catholic League Player of the Year in 1999 as Roman won its first championship since 1947 and shared the same honor in 2000.
At Roman, McCourt rushed for a school-record 3,315 yards and 38 touchdowns. He went on to Lafayette, where he holds institutional records for career touchdowns (54), points (326) and all-purpose yards (6,047).
McCourt, however, holds team success over his own individual records. In 2004, McCourt’s team won the Patriot League Championship and advanced to the NCAA Division 1-AA playoffs.
“All the individual accolades are nice, but winning with teammates and coaches you love and have great respect for is the ultimate accomplishment I’m proud of,” McCourt said.
For McCourt, playing sports is the ultimate learning experience in life.
“The biggest lesson I learned is how to work together as a team to achieve a goal,” McCourt said. “You have people from all different walks of life, but when you step onto the field, everybody has one goal in mind and that is to win. The values I learned about teamwork and unselfishness playing football have stayed with me until this day.”

McCourt came to Manor College in July and serves as the institution’s Director of Public Safety. Under his leadership, the institution remains among the safest colleges in the Philadelphia area.
“Joe has been an exceptional asset to the Public Safety department,” Allison Mootz, Vice President and Dean of Student Affairs, said. “His professionalism, dedication to student well-being and expertise have significantly enhanced our team. His warm and approachable demeanor fosters trust and respect among students, making him a valuable resource for the entire campus community.”
Lucas Dolchanczyk, a member of Manor College’s soccer team, added, “That’s pretty cool to hear he’s got game like that. Being from Philadelphia and knowing Roman Catholic growing up, it means a lot to have a guy like that on campus.”
Dolchanczyk remembered how during resident hall move-in day, McCourt made sure to introduce himself to residents as a person, not bringing up his accolades.
“He takes time out of his day to just talk to people he may not even know just to say hello or ask about a game,” Dolchanczyk said. “He makes sure that we’re not only safe in the dorms, but also welcomed.”
McCourt will be officially inducted into the Hall of Fame on Friday, November 22.
