Manor College President Named to AICUP Board of Directors
Dr. Peri was unanimously elected to serve on AICUP’s Board of Directors in June.
JENKINTOWN – Manor College President, Dr. Jonathan Peri, has been unanimously elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Association of Independent Colleges & Universities of Pennsylvania (AICUP).“AICUP has long played a vital role in advocating for independent nonprofit higher education in Pennsylvania, ensuring our institutions remain accessible, accountable and mission-driven,” Dr. Peri said. “Another organization we’re a part of, the National Association of Independent Colleges & Universities, complements the work at the national level, amplifying the voices of smaller colleges that often serve students with the greatest needs.”
AICUP was established in October 1995 as the only statewide organization that serves exclusively the interests of independent, nonprofit higher education within the Commonwealth and exists to complement the work of campus leaders. The group’s mission is to educate policymakers, media representatives and civic and corporate leaders about the benefits, value and quality education available at Pennsylvania’s independent, nonprofit colleges and universities.
This educational effort is intended to secure government and philanthropic support for students and institutions in the independent sector. AICUP further works to create partnerships among its member institutions to enhance their programs and reduce their costs.
Dr. Peri lauded the group and Manor College’s involvement in the ecosystem.
“Our students come from diverse backgrounds, many as first-generation college-goers and they deserve a strong network of support, not just on campus but in policy conversations that shape their future,” Dr. Peri said. “It is both gratifying and humbling to be collaborating with exceptional colleagues across the Commonwealth and nation as we work to strengthen the impact of our sector and institution.”
Dr. Peri will serve on the board alongside leaders from area institutions such as Drexel University, Holy Family University, St. Joseph’s University, Franklin & Marshall College and Misericordia University.
Dr. Peri came to Manor College in 2015, becoming the first lay and first male President in the institution’s history. In his tenure, the college has ascended in key attributes that students and parents seek: affordability, access, educational quality, career readiness and safety.
Under his leadership, the institution became a four-year, Bachelor’s degree-granting institution, introduced several new programs, including, most recently, Practical Nursing and updated campus facilities without incurring new costs or debt.
Dr. Peri received several awards for his leadership, including the Ukrainian Federation of America’s Alexander B. Chernyk Award for “outstanding courage, vision and leadership,” the Outstanding Service Award from Widener University School of Law and was named one of the Most Admired CEOs by the Philadelphia Business Journal in 2024.
