Tracy Davidson and Manny the Blue Jay Tracy Davidson, Manor College 2023 Commencement SpeakerTracy Davidson

Tracy Davidson is an award-winning journalist and news anchor for NBC10 News. She has won 14 Emmy Awards total for both reporting and community outreach. Most impressive is her work in giving to others–especially here at Manor College. And we are honoring her at our annual Evening with Manor.

Tracy is clearly aligned with Manor College in unique and notable ways. In just a short timeframe, she has engaged with the college significantly. It began with a commitment of her time in service. First, she engaged by advising our leadership regarding communications roles and best practices, as this is clearly sharing from her strengths as a world-class broadcaster. She hosted our Evening With Manor virtual event in 2022, and her level of professionalism created an outstanding program for our viewers. She has extended herself to us even further, and we found that her expertise is far beyond her network presence. Her service on our Institutional Advancement Committee has always been essential to the success of the group and the college. She is always asking, “How can we as the Committee help in this work?”

From there, Tracy accepted an appointment to our board. One of her first acts of kindness toward Manor College was covering the opening of our Bird Feed pantry on campus back in 2018. Our relationship has only grown stronger from there. Tracy began giving to Manor College as she started working with us, and she has given very generously in a very short time.

Tracy has connected us to many resources over the past few years, and we are grateful for those bridges she’s made. She has shared her knowledge of the Greater Philadelphia region and the people who can help us advance the work of the college. Lifting Your V.O.I.C.E. is a one-day event hosted by Tracy and her colleague, motivational speaker Jen Croneberger. This event empowers women through discussions to help them rediscover their passion, quiet negative voices inside, set a pathway to intention, and help connect to other positive women. This past year, a partnership with Manor College grew attendance for the program and gave many of our faculty, staff and students the opportunity to cultivate their own pathways to intentional living. Tracy often shares about her work and passion for Manor College on her own social media channels, which results in many, many views. Tracy just recently led her own collection for our Bird Feed food pantry from among family and friends at a party she hosted.

There are fewer more accomplished members of their profession than Tracy. She is an emmy-award winning broadcaster with recognition throughout the region and nationally. She has received awards from numerous organizations for her excellence and value to her profession. She was inducted into the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia Hall of Fame. Her work is often referred to as the gold standard for journalism. It is her energy and positive influence that has made a true difference in the Manor Community.

There is no better neighbor in her community than Tracy–and this is even more astounding when you consider that her “community” is the Delaware Valley and beyond. Her dedication to telling the stories that are essential to promote underserved communities and the underrepresented are well noted. Her work with Lifting Your VOICE is also an excellent example of her level of commitment. She has been awarded for several achievements in being an outstanding citizen as well as a reporter and advocate. “As passionate as Tracy is about journalism,” says Dr. Jonathan Peri, “her greater passion lies in community service. This is why we became friends. Her mission in life is to empower women and girls both personally and professionally. She teaches women how to transform their lives by focusing their time, energy, and attention–and embracing their true selves.”

In 2023, Tracy served as the Commencement Orator during our Graduation Commencement Ceremony. Her words were inspirational, and the students were energized by her commitment to not only the completion of their journey but their future moving forward. She received an honorary doctorate degree from Manor College, only the second given after Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy a year earlier. She has received several awards nationally and locally for her influence in serving others through education. Tracy connects with our students both broadly as a speaker and individually when in conversation one-on-one. Our VP of Student Affairs, Allison Mootz, says, “Listening to Tracy speak on resiliency made me feel seen and proud of myself in a way that I haven’t felt in a long time,” says one . She is truly an encouraging motivational speaker and her warm, caring nature really made it feel like you were talking to a friend.” At her commencement, Tracy spoke to our graduates, “I see you. I see your grit and your passion. I see the hard work and sacrifices you faced to get here. I see all the juggling you had to do with studies, clinicals, internships exams, work, family. My wish for you today is that you believe that you are brave and you will find ‘belonging.’”
