Manor College Receives Schools-to-Work Grant to Start Pre-Apprenticeship Program
Plans to implement the Pre-Apprenticeship program will begin in Summer 2025.
JENKINTOWN – The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry awarded Manor College with a Schools-to-Work grant on April 7.
The Schools-to-Work program provides students with extensive career development opportunities, including classroom training, workplace visits, mentorships and more. It is designed to successfully bridge the gap between high school and employment or post-secondary success.
At Manor College, the grant will help create two new Pre-Apprenticeship Programs in Early Childhood Education as well as Healthcare to help students entering those two fields. These programs give participants a chance to understand their desired field and help prepare them to enter a Registered Apprenticeship Program, enter college, or find a job in their field.
“A pre-apprenticeship program aligns directly with our mission and programming at Manor College,” said Dr. Jonathan Peri, President of the college. “We already help students by guiding them through the fullness of postsecondary life. Establishing this as a new and additional pathway to employment enriches our robustness in the community and offers our students compounding opportunities for career success.”
Plans to implement the Pre-Apprenticeship Program will begin in Summer 2025.
Manor College is home to a premier Early Childhood Education program and numerous healthcare programs, including Pre-Nursing, Dental Hygiene, Practical Nursing and more.
The Early Childhood Education program places heavy emphasis on developmentally appropriate practices for children. It provides students with authentic and innovative experiences while aligning with the National Association for the Education of Young Children and the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
Manor College’s Dental Hygiene program is accredited by the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation. Students train at Manor College’s state-of-the-art Dental Health Center and small class sizes ensure personalized education and individual attention from faculty.
The Practical Nursing Program at Manor College is a 15-month Associate’s Degree program that prepares students to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nursing (NCLEX-PN) given by the Pennsylvania Board of Nursing. Manor College’s first Practical nursing cohort began in Fall 2024.
Manor’s Pre-Nursing Associate’s Degree provides students with the foundation and prerequisite courses to transfer to a nursing school. The institution has agreements with La Salle University and Thomas Jefferson University’s Jefferson College of Nursing for easy transfer after completion of their degree.
