My Time at Manor College: David Cipolla ‘07

Cipolla, who lives in Jenkintown, credits Manor with leading him on his career path.

We interviewed David Cipolla ‘07 about his time at Manor College. Cipolla graduated from Manor College in 2007 with his Associate’s Degree in Education.

Q: How did Manor College impact your life?

A: “Manor College impacted me profoundly. It helped me get into La Salle University with a scholarship and playing Manor basketball as a walk on was one of the best experiences I ever had.”

I went to La Salle College High School and, after the rigors of that school, Manor helped me do better work in the classroom. I built my grades high enough that I could afford to go to a school like La Salle after getting my Associate’s Degree.”

Q: What’s something about Manor College that continues to affect you?

A: “As a walk-on basketball player, I learned so much about the game and life itself from my coaches and teammates. Some of those teammates are friends for life. I still play basketball to this day.”

Q: What is your life like after Manor?

A: “After graduating from Manor in 2007, I went to La Salle and graduated with my degree in Elementary/Special Education. I worked in education for nine years, but my career took a change when I was diagnosed with cancer in 2018. The surgery was successful, but when I returned to teaching children, I didn’t have the same energy I originally had.

I decided to leave teaching and am currently deciding what direction I want my life to go. Currently, I work at Whole Foods in Jenkintown. The hours are tricky, but I am able to focus more on my family, my faith and enjoy life outside of my job. I am grateful for that.

Manor has done so much for me. It helped me get the career I wanted to go into. I’ll figure out what lies next by letting God take me where He needs me to go.”
