Manor College Receives Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board Grant
The funding will help fund a community assistant for the residence halls and aid student programming.
Manor College is proud to announce that the institution has received the Liquor Control Board grant for the 2024-2026 grant cycle, the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) announced.
The Reducing Underage Drinking and Dangerous Drinking Grant funds programs that focus on proven strategies to discourage and reduce both underage and dangerous drinking. Since 1999, the PLCB has awarded more than $21.1 million in alcohol education grants to schools, community organizations, municipalities, law enforcement agencies and non-profit organizations.
Manor College will receive $47,600 over the two-year grant cycle. The grant will help fund a community assistant for the residence halls who will help with alcohol prevention education and late-night hall monitoring. Additional resources will aid student programming for events on campus and educational training modules for students in alcohol-related conduct issues.
“Receiving the Liquor Control Board grant is a game-changer for our alcohol prevention and education programs,” Allison Mootz, Vice President and Dean of Student Affairs, said. “By educating students on the dangers of alcohol abuse, we can make a significant impact on their lives, potentially preventing addiction later on. Manor College is incredibly grateful for the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board’s support and we’re eager to launch these initiatives with the incoming 2024 class.”
Manor College recently received a similar grant from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board during the July 2022-2024 grant cycle. The grant helped hire additional public safety staff to attend basketball games and helped teach awareness to substance abuse issues within the community early to better provide assistance.
