Manor College Among Institutions Recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in Postsecondary Success
Manor College is one of nine colleges in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and one of 200 colleges nationwide (that is in the top 4%) recognized by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Postsecondary Education. The college is one of only two in Southeastern Pennsylvania recognized with this honor.
According to a release from the Office of Postsecondary Education, the Postsecondary Success Recognition Program identifies institutions across the country by using key indicators related to equitable access, success, and post-college outcomes at public and non-profit institutions across the country. These metrics consider the extent to which institutions enroll low-income students and students of color in their state, help those students graduate or transfer successfully, and prepare them to enter the career of their choice and enjoy upward mobility, including recouping their costs and earning a premium over high school graduates in their state.
This month, the Department published a list of 200 institutions–only about three percent of colleges nationwide. These institutions demonstrate what institutions do matters to ensure student success, and the Department is inviting those on the list to submit an application to be recognized for their efforts. Manor College made this list of eligible institutions.
Dr. Jonathan Peri, President of Manor College, said he is elated for the campus community by this honor bestowed by the U.S. Department of Education.
“We have always focused on ensuring that everyone belongs and gets the opportunity to succeed in higher education,” Dr. Peri said, “and being recognized by the Department is another measure of how successful we are.”
He also pointed to the previous distinction from the New York Times where Manor College was named in the top six percent of colleges nationwide that successfully helps students gain intergenerational socioeconomic mobility.
“The gratitude we feel for the Department of Education is overwhelming,” said Dr. Peri. “We look forward to any way we can support the Secretary’s Raise the Bar initiative to help elevate more students throughout our region and nationwide.”
