Veterinary Technician – Emergency Department

VREC is currently seeking a Technician to join our emergency department. This position requires a driven individual who can work both as a member of a team and on their own, is able to quickly and accurately complete tasks while balancing multiple other duties in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must be able to follow the guidelines, structure, and established policies of the hospital while working with experienced clinicians, licensed technicians, and a dedicated support staff. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

· Quickly and accurately assessing patients’ status while working along side doctors to provide care
· Performing anesthesia for minor procedures
· Performing in-patient treatments and administering a variety of medications
· Appropriately taking radiographs and submitting them to a radiologist for review
· Running blood work on a variety of equipment
· Placing a variety of catheters (urinary catheters, central venous catheters, peripheral indwelling central catheters) as well as nasal oxygen and nasal feeding tubes

Veterinary Technician – Surgery Department

VREC is currently seeking an Anesthesia/Surgery Technician to join our great family. An ideal candidate is a motivated, good humored, compassionate technician with excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the desire to practice advanced medicine. Candidates must be able to follow the guidelines, structure, and established policies of the hospital while working with experienced clinicians, licensed technicians, and a dedicated support staff. Veterinary surgical technicians are specially trained and certified to assist veterinarians with a variety of surgical procedures.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

· Performing pre-surgical diagnostic lab tests
· Preparing and scrubbing surgical sites for sterile procedures
· Assisting the veterinarian during surgeries
· Bandaging wounds
· Changing wound dressings as needed
· Placing catheters

VREC is currently seeking a Veterinary Technician Assistant to join our surgery department. This position requires duties to be carried out quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is able to balance multiple tasks simultaneously, will have excellent interpersonal skills, and enjoys collaborating with others in a team setting. Our Surgery Pack/Prep veterinary assistants have knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile technique, operating room preparation, radiology set up, and patient husbandry. Excellent communication skills and compassion are necessary. The role will include assistance with patient care such as safe restraint of patients during treatment.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

· Setup surgery prep with appropriate induction and surgery prep supplies
· Assisting Technician with sedation, intubation, and prep of patient for surgery
· Setting up patient’s kennel with heat support and necessary fluid pumps, as well as setting up X-ray if post-op radiographs are needed
· Setting up for additional procedures as needed
· Cleaning surgery suite and prep area according to protocol
· Restocking of surgery suites, surgery prep area, and Tech station
· Responding to surgeon’s requests for equipment, instruments, and supplies

• Certification by the American Association of Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) at any of level of animal technician (ALAT, LAT, LATg)
