REQUIREMENTS:
Caregivers are responsible for ensuring compliance with Along The Way’s policies and procedures. Most importantly, they create a positive environment in the client’s home where children are nurtured and provided with the attention and support necessary for a stable, routine and secure transition from daytime activities to rest and sleep at night.
Our Caregivers responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Meeting the individual needs of the children
Interacting with the children to support play, exploration, and learning
Assuring completion of daily documentation for each client assignment
Providing assistance with infants and children’s personal hygiene as needed (bathing, dressing, changing, feeding, administering medications, etc.)
Preparing/serving meals for client’s children as needed
Communicating appropriately and effectively with mothers, children and fellow staff
Participating in staff and training meetings
Committing to continuing education/training to ensure best-in-class service for our client families

QUALIFICATIONS:
Able to lift, bend, and carry infants and small children (up to 25 lbs)
Insured vehicle and be legally eligible to drive to regular assignments at client’s homes
Must be 18 years of age or older
Communicate effectively with diverse individuals and situations
Able to handle situations ranging from routine to emergency calmly and efficiently
Preferred, but not required:
Bachelor’s degree in EEd, ECD, or related field or Associate’s degree or equivalent experience

Job Description:
The Resident Advisor is responsible for supervising the youth, teaching the youth life skills, daily operation of the site, and transportation of youth for certain activities. Under the authority of the Senior Vice President, Director, and Associate Director and reports directly to the Resident Advisor Coordinator.

To provide quality supervision to assigned youth during assigned shifts, evenings, overnights, and weekends. This includes being on-site, engaging youth, planning activities, and supporting youth life skills.
Successfully engage youth in implementing their individual plan using positive youth development, trauma-informed, and culturally appropriate frameworks.

Oversee site maintenance/cleanliness in compliance with program, county, state, and federal regulations and private grant requirements, as applicable; responsible for timely submission of follow-up paperwork.

Key Functions:
– To complete paperwork and site maintenance/cleanliness in compliance with program, county, state, and federal regulations and private grant requirements as applicable.
– Address and report any crisis or critical incident as defined by agency and/or county, state, or federal regulations according to the agency’s formalized practice and protocols.

Essential Functions:
– To administer medication to assigned youth in compliance with regulations.
– To provide or facilitate transportation for youth.
– Meet with the youth according to program requirements to model and practice independent living skills with youth, including, but not limited to: academic and career planning, permanent relationships/mentoring, housing/household maintenance, priority setting, money management, and health and wellness.
– Represent the program and agency in a professional manner and maintain positive community relationships in a proactive manner.

Other Duties:
– Understand and adhere to Valley Youth House policies, practices, and procedures.
– To participate in weekly scheduled supervision with a direct supervisor and be prepared with an agenda.
– To attend and actively participate in team meetings.
– To attend both external and internal agency training and workshops and complete and pass all required training as set forth in the funder and licensing regulations as required.
– To complete other related tasks as appropriate or assigned.

Qualifications:
– A mature individual with the ability to identify with and adapt to the goals and philosophies of the independent living program.
– Possess sound judgment and knowledge of adolescent development and behavior.
– Proficient in computer knowledge & skills (i.e. Microsoft Windows software);
familiarity with the operations of external databases and Google Suite is desired.
– Never have been convicted of any prohibited criminal or child abuse offense.
– Minimum of high school diploma or GED required, combined with one year of experience working with adolescents is preferred.
